Fancy Hands Saves Summer One Errand At A Time With Twilio
Time to read: 1 minute
Summer presents a classic problem of supply versus demand. There are only so many days to lay out in the park, get lost in the woods, or camp out. Sadly, in-between planning those dream days, you have to tend to little things like making sure your lawn doesn’t turn into an overgrown forest. Errands can be a drag on a summer, so Fancy Hands and Lipton worked out a way to take that work off your hands so you have more room for Frisbee and ice tea.
In 2012, we profiled Fancy Hands on our blog. Ted Roden started Fancy Hands to give himself more time to be a dad, a novelist and a founder. Now, about two years later, he’s helping massive companies like Lipton give their users more time to enjoy summer.
Fancy Hands powers Lipton’s under the cap sweepstakes to give their customers a chance to “win an extra SUNday”. Lipton drinkers can win 30, 60, or 120 minutes of their summer time back by having their summer errands outsourced to Fancy Hands.
Crossing off errands on tens of thousands of Lipton drinker’s to-do list is no small task. But, with the right API, Fancy Hands was able to scale with a demand the size of Lipton’s customer base. Fancy Hands used their API to send in and manage all of the winner’s task requests. “We didn’t have to make any [changes]!” says Josh Boltuch, CEO of Fancy Hands. To keep everyone on the same page, they use Twilio Voice.
“So when we need to call up a bunch of landscapers in Dalton, GA to see who can come mow the lawn at a prize winners house, those are all made through Twilio.” says Boltuch, CEO of Fancy Hands. “Another example would be Clothespin, a new on-demand laundry service, who uses the Fancy Hands API to call up laundromats in the customers area and find the best one to pick up, wash, fold and deliver the laundry.”
Lipton’s under the cap sweepstakes “Win an extra SUNday” ends this September, but Fancy Hands will continue tackling your errands, and slashing to-do lists. You can learn more about them here and try out their API here.
