You can’t skip the wait, but you can skip the waiting room. To avoid hanging out in the foyer of your doctor’s office all day, Clockwise.MD gives you real-time SMS updates when your doc is running behind schedule.

Nick Fraunfelder, Director of Sales at Clockwise.MD, says the team saw a huge gap in the medical field in terms of customer service. “We looked around at what a lot of retail and hospitality companies were doing in terms of digital engagement with customers and we thought, ‘why not health care?’”

After their founding in early 2013, Clockwise.MD started working with a handful of clinics. Within months, that number grew exponentially and Clockwise.MD signed on over two hundred other clinics. Doctors flooded in with feedback about the proactive alerts saying that the timely alerts made patients as well as staff feel more at ease now that everyone was on the same page.

Patients can use the Clockwise.MD app to book an appointment days or weeks ahead of time, or check the wait times for a same-day appointment. Once they pick a time, the doctor’s office gets a notification and can update the patient on wait times automatically via Twilio SMS.

A simple text reminder not only helps doctor’s manage patient’s expectations, it keeps them coming in. No-shows cost clinics a significant amount of time and money they can’t get back, and text messages are drastically reducing that no-show rate.

Clinics from Seattle to Massachusetts to North Carolina, all report that patients are not only showing up, they’re leaving happy. Garrett Bomba, MD says his office “now has effective tools for managing expectations and give patients the information they desire.”

For Nick and the team at Clockwise.MD, this is just the start of helping doctors and patients make waiting time a thing of the past.
