Guidelines

Portable Numbers

  • Geographic (local) numbers (+612, +613, +617, +618)
  • Mobile numbers (+614)
  • Toll-free and shared-cost numbers (+611300, +611800)
  • Toll-free 13 numbers (+6113XX)
  • Toll-free number activation

Restrictions

  • Most of International Phone Numbers have Voice capability only. Only Mobile numbers have Voice and SMS capabilities.
  • To port Category-C geographic numbers with associated ranges, port those numbers together or disassociate them prior to porting. To expedite, confirm the category of your geographic numbers with your current service provider prior to submitting your porting request.
  • For mobile numbers, we can port from the following carriers only:
    • Telstra
    • Lebara
    • Lyca Mobile
    • Telstra Wholesale Service Providers
    • TPG-Vodafone
    • Vodafone Service Providers
    • Pivotel

Required Information

  • Letter of Authorization (LOA) dated within the last 30 days
    • For Mobile Phone Numbers, CAAA form and MNP template are required
    • For Geographic and Toll Free Phone Numbers, use this Authorization Form
  • For Geographic numbers only, confirm the category of the desired port:
    • CAT A (simple port). Confirm with your current service provider that your phone numbers have no attached complex services. 
    • CAT C (complex port). Attached complex services (e.g., ISDN, Line Hunt, etc.) will be cancelled during porting.
  • Applicable regulatory compliance documentation
  • Copy of your most recent phone bill (last 30 days)

Timeframe

For Toll Free and Geographic (local) numbers, up to 6 weeks after documentation submission, depending on the complexity of the port and the time required by the current service provider.

For Mobile numbers, the port completion takes roughly around 1 week.

Other Details

In addition to porting, new Toll Free numbers can be activated on the Twilio network. To do so, provide the purchase confirmation from the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) instead of a phone bill.

Number verification is required for all Mobile number porting requests. You can verify the number via your account here. Please do not remove the number from the list of verified numbers. 

To port Geographic (local) numbers, please include the categorytype.
