Inbound Message Billing and Visibility Update

Starting January 6, 2025, Twilio phone numbers will automatically display all inbound messages in Messaging Logs and Insights, even without an inbound message URL configured. Additionally, all received inbound messages will be billed according to Twilio’s pricing list, even if no inbound message URL is configured.

What’s Changing?

  • Enhanced Message Visibility: Inbound messages, including SMS, WhatsApp, and MMS, will now appear as "received" in Messaging Logs and Insights, regardless of inbound message URL settings. Messages that previously showed a "failed" status due to missing configurations will instead be marked as “received.”

  • Inbound Message Billing: Starting January 6, 2025, all received inbound messages will now be billed based on Twilio’s pricing list, regardless of URL configuration. You can text "STOP" or "UNSUBSCRIBE" to block further messages from specific senders.

  • Simplified Access and Control: Now you can view inbound messages directly in Messaging Logs, Insights, and the API without needing to configure TwiML Bins, Webhooks, Functions, or Studio Flows. This update makes it easier to manage and review inbound traffic.

If you’re interested in real-time tracking, Twilio’s Event Streams provide an event-driven approach to monitor inbound messages without additional configuration.
