Twilio Changelog | Dec. 05, 2024
Conference mixer availability in Umatilla (us2)
On December 9, 2024 some traffic will begin to use Umatilla (us2) for conference mixing if the majority of participants are joining from the Umatilla (us2) edge location. On January 7, 2025 all conferences where the majority of participants join from the Umatilla (us2) edge location will be mixed there; Umatilla (us2) will also become selectable as a Programmable Voice Conference mixer region in TwiML and via API.
Starting on 12/09/2024 some conferences where the majority of participants are connecting via Twilio's Umatilla (us2) edge location will have their conference media mixed in Umatilla (us2) as well.
On 1/7/2025 all conferences where the majority of participants are connecting via Twilio's Umatilla (us2) edge location will have their conference media mixed there. At this time customers will also be able to specify us2 as a region in API requests and via the <Conference> TwiML instruction.
Previously, callers joining conferences from the Umatilla (us2) edge location would have their conference media mixed in Virginia (us1) which introduces a small amount of unnecessary latency.
Conferences mixed in Umatilla (us2) will use the existing billable item for conferences mixed in Virginia (us1) so there is no change in billing behavior, but the billable items will be renamed to Conference Minute - US and Agent Conference Minute - US depending on how the conference is orchestrated.
