This Week's Developer Contest Category: Twilio + Drop.io
Time to read: 2 minutes
Each week, we challenge developers to consider Twilio in a new context – whether that is a new mashup, use case, vertical, industry, or something else. We’re consistently blown away by the creativity and innovation of Twilio developers, and we hope that you will discover the power and simplicity of using our voice and SMS APIs as part of your projects.
This week, we’re bringing you a mashup contest category in honor of our API hackathon at Drop.io HQ in Brooklyn on Wednesday night. Whether you are able to attend the event or not, we are challenging Twilio developers to mashup our APIs with the Drop.io API for the chance to win a Netbook from us and a prize TBD from Drop.io
If you haven’t heard of Drop.io before, they’re making it super simple to exchange files in the cloud, whether its with people or with other APIs. Using Drop.io, the idea is that you can share what you want with who you want and manage those permissions programmatically. Drop.io has a consumer product, as well as an API, and as they say on their website:
“Anything you can do with the drop.io interface, you can do via the API,
so you can develop powerful extensions to the drop.io service, or cherry
pick specific functionality from drop.io for your apps.”
Getting Started with Drop.io
We are so excited to be partnered with the Drop.io team, and can’t wait to see what you build. Here are some resources and ideas to help you get started. If you have an idea for a mashup that you’d like to see someone build, make sure to leave it in the comments.
- Visit the Drop.io developers page
- Check out the list of actions for the Drop.io REST API
- Drop.io How Tos and Example Codes
Crazy idea of the day: could you roll your own Google Wave with Drop.io & Twilio?
A Little Housekeeping
