Phone2Action’s New Platform Helps Fight Against Patent Trolls

For those unfamiliar, patent trolls enforce patent rights to collect licensing fees, but don’t actually make products or offer services based on those patents. To the DOer who’s out building software solutions and serving customers, these trolls can be a huge legal hassle.

Attendees at this year’s International CES can help put a stop to patent trolls by texting “TROLLS” to 52886. Once an attendee texts in, Phone2Action fires an email to the attendee’s US Senator, registering their support for patent litigation reform which fights patent trolling. The campaign uses Phone2Action’s newly released social advocacy platform along with the Twilio SMS API and Google Civic Information API, to connect attendees to senators and spark legal change.
