The countdown to SIGNAL marches on. We’re back with another installment in the Meet The Speakers series. If you missed part 1, don’t fret. It’s right here. In part 2, we’ll introduce you to a React.js enthusiast, a CTO making public services more accessible, and a developer advocate who is buddies with IBM Watson.

David Roberts

david-roberts
David Roberts is a coder, runner, coffee drinker and software engineering mentor. Just know that if he mentors you at Bloc, you might be shipping some React code.

His interests seem to lie at the intersection of data management and user experience. If you need to know how to up level your data caching game in Rails, he’s your man.

In a past life, he spent more time formatting Excel spreadsheets than writing code, but he solved that problem. At SIGNAL, he’ll show you how to build a call center using AWS’ Lambda, React.js, and Twilio Lookup.

Jeff Sloyer

jeff-sloyer
Jeff Sloyer is a Developer Advocate for IBM’s Bluemix. Educating developers about how they can use Bluemix means he could be giving a talk on anything from using machine learning to predict criminal behavior, to building video chats for healthcare professionals, to fighting off downtime. You could consider IBM’s Watson as Jeff’s friendly digital sidekick that he uses in hacks fairly consistently.

Checkout a previous talk of his, Building Video Chat with WebRTC, Twilio Video and IBM Watson here.

Genevieve Nielsen

genevieve-nielsen
Getting public assistance is still woefully hard in many areas across the U.S. But, with a few lines of code, a little ingenuity, and a ton of hard work people like Genevieve are changing the way people in-need get assistance.

Genevieve is CTO of mRelief, who specializes in streamlining social services by offering eligibility determination through more accessible mediums like voice and text messaging (in addition to a variety of other mediums).

You can read how they’re fostering a ton of change for good in Chicago here, and check out Genevieve’s talk at SIGNAL here.
