Introducing Mexico Mobile Numbers and a New Addresses API
Time to read: 2 minutes
Using Twilio, you can already make calls and send messages anywhere in the world, as well as buy local phone numbers in nearly 50 countries. Today, we’re expanding our global reach even further, giving you access to Mexico mobile phone numbers. Additionally, we are introducing a brand new Addresses API endpoint, which streamlines the process that many countries require for associating a local phone number with a physical address.
Mexico Numbers
Twilio Mexico mobile phone numbers are available now as a public Beta. These numbers are SMS-enabled and add to Twilio’s existing inventory of local voice-capable numbers in Mexico. Together, these numbers give you a range of options for building voice and SMS into your web and mobile apps for the Mexico market.
If you’re already a Twilio customer and doing business in Mexico or are planning expansion into Mexico, local phone numbers are a no-brainer. They automatically give you:
- A local identity in Mexico leading to a higher response rate for calls and messages.
- Lower cost for your customers in Mexico to call and SMS you.
- Significantly improved SMS deliverability rates in Mexico.
When we add new countries like Mexico, you immediately have access to a local identity in that market. No local carrier contracts. No infrastructure needed in that country. No new software or systems to learn.

Addresses API
In addition to giving you phone numbers across the globe, we’re also introducing a new Addresses API endpoint that streamlines the process of associating an address with a phone number for countries like Mexico that have these requirements. This way, there’s no waiting for the numbers you need.
For everyone that’s tried to acquire local phone numbers in places like Mexico, Australia or Ireland, you already know the legal gymnastics required to submit and verify a physical address. Using Addresses, just a simple request from your web or mobile application or a few clicks in the Twilio account portal and your local number is provisioned to you or your customers instantly.
In addition to this new Addresses endpoint, an update has been made to the AvailablePhoneNumbers resource, where it will now indicate if an address is required and specify where that address needs to be located. It will also let you filter out numbers with address restrictions where you or your customers can’t comply. Similar updates have been added to the IncomingPhoneNumbers list resource to associate this address information as a property of your numbers.
The Addresses API endpoint is useful for every country that legally requires address association, including Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.
We are excited to add new numbers and new features to help you build global applications. We can’t wait to see what you build with the newly expanded coverage. Give these new numbers a try and let us know what you think.
