How To Set Up a Conference Call Line Using Twilio Twimlets

One of the really cool things you can do with Twimlets is set up a conference call line easily. In this how to, we show you how to build your own conference call line in about 2 minutes using only Twimlets, with no coding required.

Twimlets are small web applications that implement voice functionality. Since Twimlets are stateless and all the required data is stored in the URL parameters, you won’t need to host this anywhere. All you need to start is a Twilio account and 2 minutes to spare. Check out this video and step by step guide to building this:

First, head over to the Conference Twimlet page. If you want to set up a moderator, you can do so here. You can also set a message to be played before the caller is connected to the room as well as set up hold music. With that you have your conference Twimlet. Next, copy the URL to your Twilio account and set it as the Voice URL for your Twilio Phone number. The conference call will not start till all the moderators have joined the conference room. Anytime you want a conference call, have people call this number and you’ll be good to go!
