Global Impact Week Wrap-Up: Celebrating Our Collective Impact
From October 21-25, Twilions dedicated time to creating impact, connecting with our local and global communities, and living the Twilio Magic of Empowering Others during our 2024 Global Impact Week. Prior to this impactful moment, Twilions had already volunteered over 4,500 hours with nonprofits worldwide.
Global Impact Week has come to a close, and what a week it was! Over 1,000 Twilions from across the globe volunteered a total of 2,581 hours, making a meaningful difference in local communities in 28 cities and virtually. Whether it was mentoring students, supporting animal shelters, or volunteering with environmental organizations, Twilio employees showed up in full force to create positive change. This week not only reflected Twilio’s commitment to giving back but also showcased the passion and energy of our employees who are dedicated to making the world a better place.
Teams Who Led the Way
A special congratulations to Twilio’s Legal team, led by Dana Wagner, who truly showed out during Global Impact Week. With an outstanding 51% of the team volunteering, they set a high bar for participation and impact. Their involvement was one of many highlights of the week, and their efforts are a direct reflection of how passionate Twilions are about supporting the communities they are a part of.
In addition, a shoutout goes to the Strategy & Operations team, led by Ivy Grant. While they were unable to participate during the official week of volunteering, this team made sure to dedicate time in early October to give back. Their hard work and dedication didn’t go unnoticed, and they also contributed meaningfully to the overall success of Global Impact Week. As a result of their involvement, both the Legal and Strategy & Ops teams will be able to donate $5,000 each to a nonprofit of their choice, a well deserved reward for their commitment to service.
Spreading the Spirit of Giving
The enthusiasm and dedication demonstrated by Twilio employees during this week set a strong foundation for future success. The impact we made together this year will carry through into future initiatives and inspire others to get involved in upcoming volunteer opportunities. It's clear that the spirit of giving is alive and well at Twilio.
In addition to the volunteer hours, participants had the chance to receive rewards through random drawings. For example, Scott Slater, one of our passionate Twilions, will get to choose a nonprofit organization to receive a $1,000 donation from Twilio.org. Over 150 Twilions also earned giving credits by volunteering and sharing their photos and stories, showcasing their dedication and spreading the word about the causes they care about.
The week reminded us of the collective difference we are capable of as Twilions. From images of teams working together at local shelters to special moments of mentoring, the week was a powerful reminder of how small acts of kindness and service can add up to something much greater. It was wonderful to see the deep sense of purpose that resonated across teams, with employees united in their desire to contribute to meaningful causes.
Looking Ahead
As we reflect on the success of Global Impact Week, we are reminded of how lucky we are to work at a company that not only values innovation but also prioritizes social responsibility and community involvement. Our commitment to creating positive change in the world is an integral part of Twilio’s culture, and the passion we saw from our employees this week was deeply inspiring.
Check out the video above to see just a few of the highlights from Global Impact Week that show how the spirit of giving back runs deep at Twilio. The dedication and energy of Twilions made this week a success, and we can’t wait to see what we accomplish together in the future.
Global Impact Week was a true testament to the power of volunteerism and the lasting impact we can make when we come together as a team. Thank you to every Twilion who participated, and here's to continuing our mission of giving back in meaningful ways throughout the year!
