Introducing Stevie Graham, Twilio’s First UK Developer Evangelist
Time to read: 2 minutes
I also have a thing about learning new programming languages. Right now I’m doing stuff in Clojure and the obligatory Objective-C, so I’m especially excited about learning from you, too, as I help you integrate Twilio in your stack of choice.
The Long Courtship
I’ve loved and have been using Twilio for a minute now, building my own apps on it, even writing my own Twilio Ruby library. I remember discovering Twilio shortly after they launched, having researched scripting Asterisk dialplans. Yep, that stuff definitely isn’t pretty, and I couldn’t believe how nicely Twilio had encapsulated all of the archaic telephony gunk behind a beautiful REST API.
I remember applying for to be a developer evangelist about a year ago, but alas the time wasn’t right for Twilio to hire outside the US. Danielle Morrill and I kept in contact via email and on one fine day I received an email asking if I was still interested; the answer was yes, and I was on the first thing smoking to San Francisco.
A New Frontier
Being the first and only Twilio employee outside of the United States, I’m keen to continue acquainting developers with the incredible apps that you can build on the Twilio API. We recently began accepting credit cards from 21 countries and have started beta programs for international SMS and UK telephone numbers.
Even though Twilio started in America, we care about developers everywhere. We’re putting our money where our mouth is by putting an actual dude on the ground in Europe.
I’m really looking forward to getting out there and working with you to kick some of the proverbial you-know-what with Twilio. Finally, If you have run into anything while building your app and have questions, or you’re making something cool with Twilio and want to show it off, ping me at stevie@twilio.com or @stevegraham.
As always, we are hiring and I have to say it’s a pretty cool company to work for.
