Since the beginning, our partners have been a vital extension of Twilio. That’s why today, we’re excited to announce Twilio Build enhancements coming in the latter half of 2019 and into 2020.
We’re still maintaining two flavors of the Build Program: one for Consulting Partners (SI’s, Resellers) and another for Technology Partners (ISV’s, Ecosystem Partners). Within each program, however, we’re introducing a new tier structure with a corresponding set of partner benefits and requirements.
Partner Benefits
We realize that not every partner will build their Twilio business practice at the same pace and scale; therefore, we need to provide tailored benefits, whilst rewarding partners as they increase their investment with Twilio. As a result, we’re restructuring and introducing a number of partner benefits. Some of the key benefits are highlighted below:
- Deal Registration
Deal Registration is now live for existing Gold Consulting Partners, available in the Build community portal. Deal Registration provides incentives for Consulting Partners that proactively bring net-new opportunities and customers to Twilio. - Proof of Concept Program
Later in 2019, we’ll be introducing the Proof of Concept program to help accelerate sales cycles and customer adoption of all Silver and Gold partner solutions. We will be offering promotional credits (estimated H2 2019) to help partners move forward with eligible projects such as demos and migrations. - Application Reviews
Launching in Q4 2019, Silver and Gold Partners will be able to have their applications audited via a Technical Application Review prior to launching. This enables partners to use Twilio’s best practices during the build phase of their app by working with a Partner Solutions Engineer as a technical resource. - Market Development Funds
Coming in 2020, we’re adding Market Development Funds to help Gold partners accelerate their lead-generation and time to profitability with Twilio.
How will the Program Requirements change?
Going forward, we’ll be introducing a structured set of requirements that correspond to the program tiers of Bronze, Silver and Gold. Broadly speaking, these requirements will include:
- Business Requirements
This includes an annual program fee for joining the Twilio Build Program, signed legal agreement between the partner and Twilio, as well as a joint business plan. - Certification Requirements
Partners will be required to certify a minimum number of Twilio Platform and/or Flex Certified individuals in order to comply with tier requirements. - Performance Requirements
For Silver and Gold tiers, Twilio will also require estimated and/or actual revenue thresholds for eligibility to the tier, as well as minimum CSAT scores and Customer Success stories.
The requirements vary across the Consulting and Technology Partner Programs and increase as a partner graduates tiers from Bronze to Silver and then Gold.
When will these changes take effect?
We’re working on these changes right now. Some of them are already in place (e.g. Deal Registration) and others will be introduced in the second half of 2019. We also have many more exciting new program benefits slated to launch in 2020.
