Enter Your App to the White House Summer Jobs+ Code Sprint

The White House just put out an open call to developers for its first official Code Sprint and they need your coding skills now. Featuring the Summer Jobs+ API front and center, developers are challenged to build a job search apps for web, mobile or social platforms by Monday April 9th.
The top apps will be highlighted on WhiteHouse.gov – that is the homepage of the White House. We’re pretty sure Obama reads it on the regular. Dig into the Summer Jobs+ API and Submit your apps here before Monday at 8 a.m EST.
Coding a Solution for Youth in Tech
Earlier this year Obama announced the new Summer Jobs+ initiative focused on connecting underprivileged youth to opportunities in technology. Over the past few months the program has seen a wave of companies nationwide step up to support by providing opportunities like internships, mentorship time, jobs and more to the job portal. The Summer Jobs+ API gives developers full access to the job and opportunity data posted in the Summer Jobs+ bank.
In February Aneesh Chopra, previous CTO of the United States, visited Twilio HQ to announce new Silicon Valley partners with the Summer Jobs+ program.
We were so stoked about the new initiative we launched a lightning round developer contest on the spot.
In under 24 hours, developer Tony Webster built the Twilio-powered HeroJobs using the Government’s National Resource Directory. During this whirlwind code sprint for a cause, he also passed a full government security clearance. The next day he joined Aneesh Chopra and Jill Biden at the Veteran Apps Showcase in San Francisco.
We’re looking forward to see what awesome apps show up on the front page of WhiteHouse.gov and what comes next with Summer Jobs+.
